We are NOT going to win

There’s a group of council blocks outside London Bridge station, and they’ve all got England flags hanging out the windows and balconys. Even the Post Office round the corner from work has England flags draped over the counters.

Do people really think we can win? Look – we’ll underwhelm during the group stage, have a nailbiter to get through the second round and go out in the quarters on penalties. It happens every time. And Rooney’s sour temper’s perfectly set up to throw a Beckham-style tantrum and get sent off.

God, that could actually happen couldn’t it? I finally found the time to look at the group structure (have been working til nearly 8pm this week). It might almost be worth it to see what the tabloids come up with; for our historiography course (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Historiography) during the first year at uni, our group did a study of the tabloid perversions of history during Euro 96. Was quite interesting, albeit revealing an even cruder mentality than the Eurovision theory of inter-European relations.

We can’t come second in group as Germany will knock us out. You can never write off the Germans and when they’re at home…
Saying that, the 1-5 win was in the Fatherland.
    No offense Websters like.

Mein Gott! Ich wußte nie, daß du solch ein Patriot warst. Oder sollte der “kleiner Engländer” sein?
(Done using Google language tools. My German is not that great)
