Radio advertising

Two ill-advised radio adverts I keep hearing at the moment: one is the Nandos range, which is putting all its emphasis on being Portuguese (not such a great idea, I’d have thought, at the moment. In fact it’s probably just an invitation to have their restaurant windows kicked in) and the other is for Lufthansa. Woman addresses boyfriend: "You know I let you watch the football"… woah now! Let him watch the football? Is he kept on a leash most of the time and was given special permission to switch the telly on? There’s a series of these ads as well, and you have to wonder why Lufthansa are choosing to brand themselves with the Couple-Least-Likely-To-Last-Another-Six-Months. ‘Hey, why not take a short break with Lufthansa? Make the most of the short time your relationship has left!’

Best Radio Advert at the moment is the Pimms advert which is a paradoy of Judas Priest’s ‘Breaking the Law’ where the chorus is replaced with ‘Pimms on the lawn! Pimms on the lawn’.

reminds me of those mr muscle adverts. yeah he might be able to clean the cooker but frankly what man would want to, if it means thinking of himself as a total dweeb?
and those bathroom cleaner ads, oh and the beer one where the woman makes her boyf clean the floor by dripping beer on it.
i hate all those ‘men are weak and crap’ stereotypes.
