Run, bitches, run!

It’s official: cross country running at school is a form of abuse. We were made to run around the streets by our school, in our tiny little gym skirts in the height (low?) of winter and if we didn’t do it in half an hour we had to do it again the next week. I think eventually we worked out how to do it in 28 minutes with the most amount of walking.

"Cross-country is not the blunt instrument that everyone
remembers when they think of school sport. It’s not a case of the whole
school doing it anymore just because the playing fields are out of use."

Hmm. Have things really changed so much in just ten years? I doubt it, somehow.

Ah yes cross country. Who could forget it? 1 hour or mores worth of running round Wimbledon Common in the freezing cold where they made you where your INDOOR p.e. kit rather than your OUTDOOR rugby kit.

I got commended for 18th place out of our whole year in a house cross country.
Luckily, I was finishing my first lap just as every one else was finishing their third.

we did x-country in the grounds of our school, cos it had a lot of woods and stuff.
upside = you don’t get randoms gawping at you in your gym kit.
downside = no possibility of taking a shortcut without the teachers knowing.
