Not even rabbit food

In a bid to be slightly more healthy, today I bought a little pot of seeds with my lunch from the canteen. Been suckered by all the talk of Omega 3/6 imbalances and hippy crap about Omega 3 being good for depression. But mainly I just couldn’t be arsed with another pot of jelly babies (mmm, jelly babies).

Anyway, turns out there’s a reason we don’t eat more seeds. Seeds are horrible. I specifically have sunflower, pumpkin and flax seeds (flax seeds being so small they can’t even be chewed). It’s like eating tiny bits of shredded cardboard. Being a vegetarian must suck.

And yet… I’m still eating them. It’s reflex. Must put them out of reach. The bin should do it.

Pumpkin seeds are fantastic if you make your own. Well, cook your own. Making your own is tough unless you’re a pumpkin.
Mum occasionally cooks pumpkin pie, and she chucks the seeds on a baking tray in the oven until they’re crispy. They’ve got a great flavour, intense like salted or dry roast nuts, but without anything added to them.
