It’d be too easy to merely write a post jeering at the new London Olympics logo. (That won’t stop me have a dig though: have you seen the video? DEF II, anyone? And why do half the people featured look like they’re embarrassed to be there? Unless someone had shown them some sketches of the logo: "yeah, and this is what the video’s promoting, yeah? The brand, yeah? It’s flexible, modern and dynamic, yeah?" "Er, no, it looks like a four year-old got a can of spray paint. Stop pointing that camera at me, I’m not helping you promote this shit." I digress.)
No, my main point – and the point of a number of people over on Comment is free – is what it looks like. Squint one way and it looks like a runner on the starting blocks. Squint another, and it’s someone giving a blow job.
Ah yes: establishing "the character and identity of the London 2012 Games and what the Games will symbolise nationally and internationally."
