Want to create a response to a wildly unpopular scheme? Don’t bother with actual policy changes, just fiddle with the curtains. That’ll distract ’em. Jacqui Smith says that, instead of carrying an identity card, we could have our biometric data inserted into our passports so there’d be no need for that nasty card.
Um? I couldn’t give a flying feck about possessing one more piece of plastic. What I give quite a lot of flying fecks about is my biometric data being stored on a national database. Whether it’s on an identity card, a passport, a driving licence or a Nectar card doesn’t matter. It’s still on the database. So stop it. Stop it now.
