Short memory spans

Switched on News 24 this morning as breakfast accompaniment (which, by the way, now I'm back home is consisting of toasted frozen bread; if it ever stops raining I'll nip out to the shop and buy some milk and fresh Warburtons, but I'm not sure it's ever going to stop raining) and found myself in the middle of a review of the year.

"…We were told that a lot of people could be at risk of dying from swine flu," said the anchor.

You said that! I squeaked at the telly. You told us! You!

Later, a reporter is talking to us from a school in Birmingham. "You may be surprised," says he, "to hear that some of these children were ostracised during the summer because of panic over the virus".

Gosh, thinks I. I wonder whose fault that is.
