A quick thought on biography, from Alan Bennett’s head

But not necessarily the actual opinions of Alan Bennett (am just back from Habit of Art)

A lot of what is passed off as biography is idle curiosity, no different from reading someone's private correspondence when they're out of the room… and it doesn't make it morally better when someone's out of the room because they're in the grave.

I'm not sure what I think of this yet. But I clearly do think something about it.
