Mine would never have done that

I was in quite a dodgy pub on Essex Road on Friday night, but never judge a pub by its… er… terrible range of beer… tattooed regulars… whatever. It was a bad pub. On the other hand, at about 10.30pm a man walked in with a ginger cat on his shoulder.

Sadly a picture of the shoulder-sitting could not be got.

Update 4 August 2011: just wrote a post for Londonist about Bob the Angel tube cat who travels with his owner on the bus, sits on his shoulder and has just got a book deal… bearing in mind the area, this MUST be the same cat!

To be fair, Elgar was probably just being considerate by not making your back problems worse … A cat of his stature would be somewhat uncomfortable!

That’s a fair comment. Though when I first developed sciatica and was in massive amounts of lower back and thigh pain it didn’t stop him running away when it was injection time. I’d catch up to him, he’d watch me lower myself down slowly and then scuttle off before I could pick him up.

I saw a comedy show at the weekend in which it was suggested cats are Nazis. IT’S FUNNY BECAUSE IT’S TRUE.

I have a ginger cat and he too is a shoulder-sitter. He actively seeks out people’s shoulders on which to climb onto and sit.

Mine sits on my head. AND he weighs well over a stone. But he’s a tabby.
Talking of pub animals – there’s a pub in Southend where a geezer goes every night with his 4-5 barn owls. They fly up into the rafters, and sit there until closing time. Has to be seen to be believed.
